of the soldiers and the seizure of a large number of weapons and ammunition.

The Bamarni sub-district is located on the slopes of Mount Metina in the Amidi district of Duhok Governorate, and it witnessed fierce battles during Aylul Revolution, and one of the most prominent of these epics is the Mount Metina epic. It is clear that this epic, and many others, played a major role in writing the pages of history with the battles and bravery recorded by the Peshmerga forces in order to achieve and guarantee freedom.

Peshmerga activities infiltrated through the continuation of the Peshmerga struggle to the state in different parts of Kurdistan during the Gulan Revolution, and guerrilla warfare methods were able to inflict heavy damage on the military and security institutions of the Ba'athist regime. The Bamarni epic is one of those heroic campaigns of the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces, carried out by the forces of the Amidi, Duhok, Sheikhan, and Popular Resistance committees on the night of 26/27 May 1987 against the positions and camps of the Iraqi Army in the Bamarni area.

Although the Peshmerga attack was delayed by one night due to the retreat of the mercenaries who had promised the Peshmerga help, after that, with a comprehensive military plan, they raided the Iraqi Army headquarters in the area and quickly seized thirteen positions, the Bamarni airport, the Border Guard battalion headquarters, and the 140 battalion. The Iraqi Army suffered heavy losses, as more than 100 soldiers were killed and 58 others were captured. The spoils of the battle included more than 215 pieces of various weapons and more than 20150 various bullets. Two Peshmerga members, Fawzi Ramadan Rasho Skrini and Abdulstar Salih Murad, were martyred, and 30 other Peshmerga were wounded.

During this attack, about 32 thousand dinars were seized, and the Peshmerga and their officials immediately distributed them to the families of the martyrs. It seems that the Peshmerga's victory in this epic and the strong blow dealt to the government military institutions served to boost the morale of the revolution and the Peshmerga forces, and was a strong message to the Ba'athist regime that the revolution is continuing and capable of carrying out major activities wherever it wishes.
