In Year 1961, he joined the Peshmerga Forces of the Aylul Revolution and became a Peshmerga in the detachment of Mela Rasul, which was affiliated with the leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. On May 24, 1962, the forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party attacked to liberate the Penjwen district, but due to the large number of Iraqi Army soldiers, the first attack was not successful, and another Iraqi military force set out to support Penjwen. Mela Rasul and his force went to Nalparez to prevent them from reaching the city of Penjwen. The Iraqi supporting soldiers in Nalparez fell into an ambush by Mela Rasul's force. After a fierce confrontation between them, the Iraqi Army military force was broken. As a result of this confrontation, Hama Chalawi was martyred, and at the same time, three other Comrades of his, named Mela Rasul, Sadiq Nawshwani, and Ahmed Shadala, were martyred.
