Abdullah Muhammad Ali, known as (Sayid Abdullah), was born in 1936. Due to the lack of schools, like many of his peers, Sayid Abdullah was deprived of education, but his desire to learn gave him the only opportunity to become literate and gain the ability to write and read through various means.
Sayid Abdullah opened his eyes in the mountains of the Haji Omaran border, finding his livelihood in agriculture and animal husbandry, so he took up that profession, and his passion for horsemanship and marksmanship made him an excellent horseman and rifleman.
Sayid Abdullah's family was one of those patriotic Kurdish families that, if not with weapons, served the Peshmerga and their just cause with bread and water, so alongside the warm guest house they had set up to welcome guests in Haji Omaran, discussions about Kurdishness, freedom, and the independence of Kurdistan were part of their council conversations.
Struggle RecordWhen the relations between the leader Mustafa Barzani and the Iraqi government deteriorated in 1961, in April of the same year, members of his family and many of his friends and comrades, including Sayid Abdullah, declared armed struggle against the government of Abdul Karim Qasim and turned the mountains of the region into trenches and started the war. In response, the then-governor of Rawanduz district sent a mobile force led by Captain Mahmoud to Haji Omaran and burned the houses of the Peshmerga.
Although this position of the Iraqi government was to intimidate and force the Peshmerga to retreat, Sayid Abdullah and his comrades decided to continue their resistance as long as one Iraqi soldier remained in their region, so in those epics and heroism that led to the removal of the footprints of the enemies of the Kurds, such as the battles of attacking the military convoy in Omerawa and capturing the Rayat station, Beshe gorge, the battles of Goraz mountain, Gali Ali Bag, the Valley of Martyrs, the battles of Pishdar, Qaladize, Dara Qasp, and dozens of other epics Aylul Revolution he participated, and until the ominous Algiers Agreement of 1975, they also decided to live in exile and settled in Iran.
As a result of the pressures that the Iraqi government, in coordination with the Iranian government, exerted on Kurdish refugees, many families returned to Iraq, and the family of the Martyr Abdullah was among them and settled in Haji Omaran, but the revolutionary spirit of their family and the violent policy adopted by the Iraqi government against revolutionaries, after the meeting of the night of April 27-28, 1976, which was held under the supervision of comrade Masoud Barzani and it was decided that the revolution would be declared on May 26 of the same year, the Peshmerga of Kurdistan, who had returned to the places and regions of Kurdistan in stages and at different times, took action against the military institutions of the Iraqi government and used a tower, a guard post, and a military camp as a safe place to not leave, and with their simple and modest weapons, which only had the will and spiritual power of Kurdistan behind them, with the slogan (Kurdistan is the real arena of struggle) Gulan Revolution they ignited it.
Sayid Abdullah and 22 of his comrades, after obtaining a few pieces of weapons, on the night of May 24-25, 1976, made the mountainous areas of the Haji Omaran border their base for defense, but the constant surveillance of enemy aircraft forced them to settle in a different place every moment, so on the dawn of May 26, when the news of the ignition of the Gulan Revolution reached them, they fell into an enemy ambush, and along with the wounding of two of his comrades, Sayid Abdullah was martyred and was buried in the Lawan hill in the Haji Omaran cemetery.
