As a tradition for reorganization and self-renewal, and after favorable conditions in April 2001, the decision was made to hold a new conference for the Kurdistan Students Union. For this purpose, a preparatory committee was formed in the Secretariat office headed by the Secretary of the Kurdistan Students Union. This committee carried out all preparations for the conference in the period from April 5 to 20, 2001, and the delegates from the branches and local committees were elected for the conference(1).
After the preparations, the conference began in Erbil from July 28 to 31, 2001, under the slogan "Science, Peace, and Renewal" in the presence of President Masoud Barzani, and President Masoud Barzani delivered a speech, followed by a message from Jalal Talabani, the first secretary of this union and the Secretary-General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, and speeches by Dr. Roj Nouri Shaways, Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament, and Nechirvan Barzani , Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Government, the Minister of Education, the Governor of Erbil, and a representative of the Kurdistan Students Association(2). 427 delegates from all organizations of the Kurdistan Students Union participated in this conference(3). The delegates elected a new body for the Executive Committee as follows:
