Martyr Ahmed Mahmud is from the village of Banan, belonging to the Mzuri Bala area in the Mergasor district. He was born in 1938 in exile in the village of Bal, belonging to the Shemdinli district of North Kurdistan. His wife's name is Misrikhan Sa'di, and his sons are Abdullah, Dalir, and Hoshyar, and his daughters are Shilir and Shilan. During the infamous Anfal campaign against the Barzanis on August 10, 1983, his eldest son, Abdullah, at the age of 17, fell victim to the Anfal campaign and remains missing.
Struggle RecordIn 1908, their family was displaced to the country of Turkey due to the revolution of Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani and settled in the village of Bal, belonging to the Shemdinli district. For this reason, he joined the military of the country of Turkey and worked in the industrial engineering department until 1957, gaining a great deal of expertise. After his return in the year 1961, through As'ad Khoshawi, he established a relationship with Aylul Revolution and became a Peshmerga for two years. With the support of the revolution's leadership, he went outside the country to gather more information about weapons, ammunition, and methods of use. The countries he visited include Iran, Turkey, Britain, Germany, Greece, and France, from where he was able to bring back some workshop equipment. After his return to Kurdistan, he was busy repairing the weapons that fell into the hands of the Peshmerga during heroic battles, and at the same time, he had a high role in neutralizing and removing mines and bombs of the Ba'ath regime. In the battle of Mount Matin, the weapons that had fallen into the hands of the Peshmerga as spoils were rigged with TNT; when they were inspecting them, it exploded, and he lost his fingers.
In 1972, with the support and order of the immortal Barzani and the assistance of As'ad Khoshawi, he established a military factory in Gali Qumri in the Barwari Bala area and became the person responsible for that factory, and all the tools needed for this factory were provided. Eventually, the factory began its work extensively, as they were busy repairing all types of weapons, even heavy weapons.
In 1974, in the border area of Amedi, an enemy aircraft fell into the hands of the Peshmerga. Ahmed went and transported all the parts by pack animal to his factory and used them to manufacture anti-tank mines and hand grenades, and the Peshmerga used them again against the enemy. The weapons that Ahmed Jakhsi repaired or manufactured include the following:
- Anti-tank and armored vehicle mines.
- Hand grenades.
- Manufacturing wireless devices.
- Repairing all types of non-functional weapons such as (pistols, Kalashnikovs, Brno, DShK, Hawk).
- Manufacturing spare parts for various weapons.
- Repairing all types of non-functional engines and industrial machines.
- Neutralizing all types of bombs such as improvised explosive devices and hanging bombs.
In 1975, after the collapse of the revolution, he cut off all his relationships with the Peshmerga and the revolution's leadership, and gradually the people of the area looted his entire factory, so he was forced to leave that area and head towards the border of the country of Turkey. However, on the way, he saw a close relative of his named Mullah Nabi, known as Mullah Nabi Pendroyi, who brought him back home and said that we must not leave Kurdistan. They returned home, and they were asked by some people to go to their house for lunch, and those same people informed the Jash (collaborators) that two Barzani Peshmerga were trying to escape. While they were busy eating lunch, the Jash attacked them and first martyred Ahmed Jakhsi and then Mullah Nabi. For three days, they did not allow their bodies to be buried, and later, due to the words of some personalities of the area, they buried them. However, eight days after their burial, the Jash again exhumed their bodies and took them to the military command in Duhok, and their graves remain unknown to this day.
