Jamal Osman Karasul Rahman, also known as Jamal Murtka, joined the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Peshmerga forces in 1982. In 1986, he was wounded in the battle of Chghamira. In 1990, he was appointed as the head of the Shaqlawa area committee of the second branch committee. In 1991, he participated in the Kurdistan Uprising as a commander. In 1999, he was elected as a member of the Central Committee of KDP in the 12th Congress. In 2013, he was elected to the fourth term of the Kurdistan National Assembly.

Biography

Jamal Osman Karasul Rahman, also known as Jamal Murtka, was born in 1962 in Murtka village near Erbil. In 1969, he went to school in the village of Murtkai Gawra. He attended primary school in Murtka and went to Qushtapa semi-district for secondary school. He was wounded three times and three of his brothers were martyred by Iraqi authorities named Jamil Osman, Bashdar Osman, and Mohammed Osman.  In 2016, he received a bachelor's degree in international relations from Chihan University in Erbil. He is fluent in Kurdish, Arabic, and Persian.

Jamal’s Striving Record 

In 1982 he joined the Peshmerga forces of KDP. In 1983, he participated in the battle of Goezani in Erbil province against the Iraqi army and was wounded. In the early 1980s, he was the administrator of the Safini area committee of the second branch of KDP. In 1985, he was appointed as the administrator of the Erbil Plain Area Committee of the Second Branch Committee. In 1985, he participated in the battle of Mount Karachukh in Erbil province against the Iraqi army. On November 30, 1985, he was admitted to the eighth round of the KDP Cadres Institute in Razhani village, East Kurdistan, along with 44 other students. He graduated on April 3, 1986. On October 27, 1986, he participated in the battle of Tarpaspian near Qushtapa in Erbil province against the Iraqi army. In 1986, he participated in the battle of Nahla in Duhok province against the Iraqi army. He was wounded in 1986 in the battle of Chaghamira. In 1990, he was appointed as the head of the Shaqlawa area committee of the second branch committee. In early 1990, he was appointed as the administrator of the branch committee for the first time during the responsibility of Omar Osman Omar, also known as Omar Mergasuri. In 1991, he participated in the Kurdistan Uprising as a commander and participated in the liberation of Shaqlawa town, Pirmam village, Erbil and Kirkuk from the hands of the Iraqi army and officials of the Ba'athist Arab Socialist Party. In early 1992, he was re-appointed as the administrator of the branch committee for the second time under the supervision of Dr. Jarjis Hassan. In late 1992, he was appointed as the administrator of the branch committee for the third time during the tenure of Azad Abdulqadir Saeed (1947-2000), also known as Azad Karadaghi. On December 1, 1995, his house in Erbil was looted by PUK fighters and he was expelled from the city on December 18, 1995. Until the end of 1999, he was the commander of the second army of the Kurdistan Army Command (Falak). In 1999, he was elected as a member of the Central Committee of KDP in the 12th Congress. In early July 2009, he was the owner of the magazine Omed, published in Kurdish by the Kurdistan Battlefield Disabled Organization in Erbil. In 2010, he was a delegate to the 13th Congress of KDP in Erbil. On November 6, 2013, he was elected as a member of the Kurdistan National Assembly in the fourth term.
