Omid Abdulrahman Hasan, known as Omid Khoshnaw, was born on 1 June 1977 in Erbil. He completed the media department at the Erbil Technical Institute.
He was a member of the Kurdistan Parliament during its fourth and fifth terms and chaired the Kurdistan Democratic Party faction. He was secretary of the Kurdistan Democratic Youth Union. On 8 February 2021, he became the 42nd governor of Erbil.
On 6 November 2022, at the fourteenth Congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Duhok, Congress members elected him to the Central Committee.
