Martyr Umar Ismail Ali was born in 1966 in the village of Spiyara in the Khwakurk area, belonging to the Sidekan district in the current Soran Independent Administration of Erbil Governorate. He was illiterate and married. He was martyred in 1995.
In 1991, after the popular uprising in South Kurdistan, he joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In 1995, he became a Peshmerga in the Sidekan Army of the Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces. He participated in the battles of the Sidekan area. On November 7, 1995, in the battle to defend the rule of law in the village of Lelkan in the Sidekan area, he was martyred at the hands of PKK militants.
